Homestead Culinary Science team meets with the mayor of Sunnyvale to discuss supply chain and food waste issues.
What We’re About
Homestead Culinary Club aims to create a community of chefs and food enthusiasts alike. Our goal is to teach members about the science behind cooking through fun, engaging workshops!
We are currently collaborating the Food Runners program as a scholastic branch in order to eliminate wasted surplus food.
After discussion with Mayor Larry Klein of Sunnyvale, we are working to fix supply chain issues in the area by sourcing food locally. Join us for a volunteering event at the Open Air Farmers Market on September 21st!
“No one is born a good cook, one learns by doing.”

District Work
Our club collaborated with Ms. Divya Puri, the district manager of nutrition services of the Fremont Union High School District. We surveyed Homestead students’ opinions on school lunches and implemented changes to the fall menu to accommodate the results. View some of the statistics here.
“We have also added more cranberries and increased vegetarian choices… We are trying to add a vegan item to our menu daily for next school year.”
